New Jersey traffic law is fairly clear regarding motorist behavior. It is less clear, and in some cases, totally silent on the rights and duties of people who are not driving a car or truck.

Should a person driving a bicycle follow the same rules? How about people walking? What are their rights? Traffic law has not kept up with all the latest technology...what does it say about some of the newer devices like scooters or e-bikes?

Since the view from the roadway and the sidewalk is different, and "non-motorists" are not in by a sturdy metal box (a car!) to protect themselves, their view of their rights and duties is not the same as a motorist. There are some questions that New Jersey law does not answer...or that it answers more than once...and differently!

This course addresses many of these issues. it is designed to help people who drive cars, people who drive bikes, people who walk...in other words, anyone who uses a roadway!

The class is co-taught by a national bicycling coach and a police officer.

General ideas covered:

  • The basics: The (different) rights and duties of (different) road users
  • Education: what This course addresses many of these issues. it is designed to help people who drive cars, people who drive bikes, people who walk...in other words, anyone who uses a roadway!
